New update in Alpes-Maritimes (French Riviera) region: the mooring of vessels over 20m and 24m is now limited.
In August 2020, the Maritime Prefecture of the Mediterranean published on its website several notes relating to the draft decrees governing the anchoring of ships over 24 meters in the eastern Mediterranean.
This note proposed at the level of the Alpes-Maritimes department a draft of decrees which set out the principles established by the prefectural decree n ° 123/2019 in order to organize the anchoring of ships of 24 meters and more (20 meters according to certain areas ) for reasons of navigation safety, maritime safety and environmental protection.
The maritime prefect was therefore entrusted the DDTM 06 the task to prepare and consult with orders that offers a public consultation period ran from Monday, August 10th to Tuesday 1st September 2020.
On October 14, 2020, the Maritime Prefecture signed two decrees regulating the anchoring and stopping of ships of 20 meters and 24 meters and more. The first decree regulates the West zone of the Alpes-Maritimes department, the second regulates the East zone.
Anchorage in the eastern part of the Alpes-Maritimes: supervision for vessels 20 meters and over.
It is the decree n ° 204/2020 of October 14, 2020 which regulates it. It provides that all vessels of overall length greater than or equal to 20 meters (regardless of flag) intending to stop or anchor under authorized to do so only outside the areas visible on the maps below.
Anchorage in the western part of the Alpes-Maritimes: supervision for vessels of 24 meters and over.
It is the decree n ° 205/2020 of October 14, 2020 which regulates it. It provides that all vessels with an overall length greater than or equal to 24 meters (regardless of flag) intending to stop or anchor under authorized to do so only outside the areas visible on the maps below.
The Gulf of Napoule and Golfe Juan area is also governed by the Maritime Prefecture decree n ° 155/2016 of June 24, 2016 which provides for certain mooring and piloting areas, on which decree 205/2020 is based.
In case of doubt or misunderstanding, the up-to-date nautical instructions will provide more details. The semaphores (La Garoupe for the West sector, Cap Ferrat for the East sector) on channel 16 can possibly adjust the information if the captains enter them on these questions.
